bayeux/ honfleur/ giverny

after normandy we drove to bayeux, which is the cutest little town in the world. we had amazing crepes for lunch, and kim kardashian told me that taking pictures of food is not sexy, but i took pictures of it anyway. the tapestry was amazing. it represents the battle of hastings (the norman invasion of england in 1066), and was created not long after that. it's almost perfectly intact, and only the very end is missing a small piece.

^^^trying to take a senior pic, senior pic.

^^^LOL at trying to do a panoramic photo

thursday night after normandy and bayeux, we drove to another port city called honfleur. honfleur looks exactly how i would imagine amsterdam to look like. i love it there. after dinner we went walking and walked along the river.

after most of our group had left, a few of us went to walk around the most amazing stone church. the three of us were standing out in front, when this guy who was watching his dog and smoking asked us if we were mormon. (uh... how did he know?) (also this is like 10 at night) anyways, he proceeded to tell us that twenty years ago he went to go see the mormon church, and met with the missionaries, and even read the book of mormon. he ended up having to convert to islam to marry his wife and bring her back to france from algeria. he told us about his life and talked for like twenty minutes with us. in french. and i understood it all. it was so cool. as he was leaving he told a phrase that means "the world is small" and thanked us for talking with him.

the next morning we explored honfleur some more. it has the largest wooden chapel, which was just stunning. we also went inside the stone church from the previous night. we walked around town and ate food (you want to eat food all day every day here it's ridiculous).

after honfleur, we drove to monet's gardens in giverny. they are so peaceful and beautiful. i could spend my whole life in gardens like that.

^^^i have a million more flower pictures, but i decided to spare you

after giverny, we drove back to paris where we stayed the night in a hotel again. we were all so exhausted from that week, so six of went to the grocery store and bought some cheese, jam, baguette, and chicken. we went back to kayla and my's teeny tiny hotel room (we're talking space for two twin beds and that's about it) and ate our food and watched confessions of a shopaholic. it was so fun. i loved that night. the next day we went to our host families.
