FROZEN NOSES AND ICE MOUNTAINS

dear everyone!

i hope all is going well!

these days it has been soooo cold! the problem is the humidity. the weather may say it`s -18 outside (celsius) but because of wind and humidity it will feel like -30 which is REALLY COLD. every day has been so bitter that we have been trying to think of ways to stay inside but still do our work. we have been blessed this week to receive many referrals!

this week started off with a miracle! on monday we received a referral from some missionaries serving in the Paris mission. they have an investigator in belgium who they are teaching. his wife was visiting for christmas so she was there for one of the lessons, and she really liked it so she gave the elders her information and thanks to modern technology, we got the referral! her name is evelyne and she is awesome! she was so excited to receive the book of mormon and she thinks the church is great for her husband, so she wants to learn more! we are excited to continue to teach her!

another miracle referral we received was from the zone leaders. we cover the same area, we are just french speaking and they are english. they told us about a lady named julie who has a cute little daughter, amélie. sister garcia and i went over to their house to meet them and she is ready for the gospel! they have some hard trials in their lives, but they are so sweet! they want to change, they want happiness. the best was during the lesson, amélie, who is four, just exlaims, "i love Jesus!" me too amélie, me too!

we invited julie to be baptized and she accepted! we also invited her to church but she couldn`t go this week because amélie had a visit with her dad, but she told us she was going to change the visits from sunday as soon as possible so she can start coming to church!

other exciting things that happened this week... there was a member in our ward who had a babyshower and invited us to come and contact at her baby shower! okay! we helped her set up the day before and this was a big deal! they used the gym at the chapel and it was so fancy! it was cool to be there for a little bit and talk to her friends and invite them to church and to learn more about the gospel!

this week i have been thinking a lot about goal setting and the missionary that i want to become. i want to make sure that i do everything i can while i am here. there are so many people who are desperately searching for more, searching for happiness, and they turn to the wrong things to try and find it. every time we share the gospel or invite a friend, it is an act of love. the gospel is what brings us true happiness so when we invite our friends or our families to learn more or to see what they can have, we are really inviting them to have eternal life, to have joy, to understand that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them perfectly and a Brother, a Savior, who died just for them.

i read a talk by elder jeffrey r holland this week called "We are All Enlisted." it is an awesome talk! it was given at the priesthood session but it applies to us all.

"from every man [and woman], young and old,... I ask for a stronger and more devoted voice, a voice not only against evil and him who is the personification of it, but a voice for good, a voice for the gospel, a voice for God. Bretheren [and sisters] of all ages, unbind your tongues and watch your words work wonders in the lives of those 'who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it.' 'Haste to the battle, quick to the field; truth is our helmet, buckler, and shield. stand by our colors; proudly they wave! we're joyfully, joyfully marching to our home.'"

we can all do it! we can love people and be kind to them and invite them to see what has changed and bless the lives of us and our families! that's what i try to do every day.

i love you all!

love,

soeur paine
