IT`S A GIRL!

dear everyone,

i`m so sad. i am leaving gatineau. gatineau has been my home for 6 months and i know i am so blessed to be able to be here for so long.

i will be training a brand new missionary so i am now a mom! (in mission talk your trainee is your baby) in a little town called Victoriaville, QC. it is about halfway between quebec city and montreal and it has not had sisters for a very long time, if ever. my new companion and i will be the only missionaries because it is a tiny little branch. we will both be new to the area so it will be an adventure for sure!

this week was full of miracles. sister garcia and i found 3 new families to start working with after knocking a few apartment buildings. it was cool to see how in 1 hour we found 3 families! one of the families is from haiti and we were able to teach the plan of salvation. they are so sweet! they have 2 little kids, mia and sydney.

this week we had a skype lesson with one of our investigators, jean-claude at the senior missionary couple (the scotts)`s house and then they fed us dinner. while we were preparing for dinner, sister scott received a butt dial from our former investigator, thed. sister scott called him back and invited him to dinner and he eventually accepted! we had dropped him because we weren`t able to get in touch with him for about 4 months. he came over and ate with us and the ward mission leader and then we were able to teach him again! it was a miracle!

other great things that happened this week was that someone in our ward got emotional as he shared highlights from the superbowl in his talk on sunday...but then it actually turned out to be a super spiritual talk about pressing forward and fighting until the end because we are all on the same team. it was hilarious! and then i did cry as i shared my testimony... gross weepy eyes!

yesterday we had a pretty gnarly snow storm, we got enough snow to go up to my knees. this morning most of the roads had been plowed, but i had to get out of a parking lot and i got stuck! sister garcia and did everything we could to get the snow from around the tires and a nice lady even tried to help us but nothing worked! so 2 construction workers saw our problem and pushed the car as i put on the gas and eventually i got out. talk about embarassing! maybe it is a good thing i`m leaving! just kidding....

i love gatineau. it`s now been 7 transfers i`ve been in the ottawa area with serving in gatineau and fallowfield. i will miss it dearly but i am so incredibly blessed to have met these people. i really don`t deserve it! but i`m ready to see the miracles that will happen in victoriaville. also pray for me because i am directionally challenged and we will both be new in the area.

one of my favorite scriptures that i shared with the ward before i left is john 16:33"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

i love this verse in both french and english. in english is says "be of good cheer," but in french is says, "prenez courage," or have courage. we can have courage and we can be happy because we have a Savior and a Champion. the gatineau saints have taught me that. they are very strong and valiant. they have many trials and yet they press forward and love and help in the best way they can.

i love you all! have a great week!

love,

soeur paine
