this week was pretty good. i had some great falls and we found some people and we had the women's session of general conference!
first, the falls. i am not the most graceful person in the whole world. thursday morning we were meeting a member of our ward to do some service and it was very icy. i slipped a little, so i turned back to warn sister ellsworth and landed on my knee on the ground and now have a nice huge bump and bruise on my knee about the size of my fist. but that wasn't even the worse one. saturday we were in an apartment building, and i slipped and fell down the stairs. my hand hit the floor and it was so loud it sounded like a gunshot! a nice lady came out and asked if we fell and then made sure i didn't hit my head and wanted to be sure i was okay. we are going to go back and talk to her about the gospel.
wednesday we had a miracle day. we had compiled a list of former investigators from past progress records and normally when we contact former investigators, we can talk to a few and sometimes they are interested. we visited 4 or 5 of them that afternoon and every single one of them was interested in setting up a return appointment or became a new investigator! it was a tender mercy.
and saturday night we had the women's conference of general conference! it was so great! i love conference, sometimes i think it is better than christmas! i loved the talk by sister carol f mcconkie. she talked about being holy. i love how she said that,
"holiness is in the striving and struggling... holiness is setting aside the natrual man and becoming a saint through the Atonement of Christ... our hope for holiness is centered in Christ...we must learn to sit at the feet of the Holy One of Isreal and learn holiness."
i LOVE the concept of becoming holy. i know it is possible. i have a quote that i have taken with me my whole mission and put above my desk that says, "please hear me girl the world needs women who know how to do hard and holy things." we can be holy, we can be whole through our Savior Jesus Christ and it is in the holiness that we find peace and happiness.
i love you all! have a great week!
love,
soeur paine
