THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT HOUSE

dear everyone,

this week was amazing! since last wednesday we have seen so many miracles here in victo.

the first miracle was with our investigator, gym (yes pronounced like jim but spelled like gym). we visited gym last week and the lesson was only so-so. it seemed like he just really wanted to converse and ask questions- which isn't alway bad, but we didn't know if he had real intent to change his life or if he just wanted to know more about the mormons. we decided we were going to be bold and ask him if he would be baptized. we taugth him the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and then invited him to change his life and be baptized... AND HE ACCEPTED! we were so surprised! but it was so awesome! the spirit was so strong!

later that night we had a lesson with our branch president and a less active member and his non-member wife. we met president outside and then he showed us where the house was. he knocked on the door and no one came, but we could see into the house and see the lights were on and everything. eventually this shirtless man came down the stairs, and as he came  more into view we realized that not only did he have no shirt on, but that he was only wearing tiny purple underwear! ahhh! luckily he didn't see us and president turned to us and said, "i think i made a mistake. this is not the right house." it was so funny!!! we all were laughing. but when we actually did get to the right house, the lesson was really great. they don't know very much about the gospel, so we taugth the beginning of the restoration and then read with them in the Book of Mormon. we learned at zone conference to make sure to read the Book of Mormon in every lesson, and sister ellsworth and i have been trying really hard to do that. we read with them in 3 Nephi 11 when Christ came and visited the people in the Americas. the spirit was SO strong. they were rivited with the story and you could tell that the spirit really touched them.

we had another miracle with a new investigator for china. her name is xioahua. she was a former investigator of the elders. we met her and she speaks mainly mandarin, some french and a little english. she got out the Book of Mormon she had been given in french and we told her we could get her one in mandarin. she was so excited! she explained that in china, they don't know about Jesus Christ. but she saw His picture and kept pointing to it and said she wants to know Him. she very badly wants to know Him. we had a few pamphlets in mandarin, so we opened up to the last page where it teaches you to pray and had her read it. after we asked if she would pray and she said yes! she asked if she could do it in mandarin. i don't know what she said in that prayer, but i could feel the spirit, and it was so strong. she wants to know Christ and that is the coolest thing! we had a member with us and he was so excited after we left the lesson and asked if he could bring his wife with him the next time. i am so excited for her to learn about her Savior, Jesus Christ.

another cool thing that happened was yesterday we were trying to pass by some former investigators. we went to the house of someone we had a record for named natalie, and natalie wasn't there but the lady who opened the door asked, "what are you, mormons? you must be here for him then." sister ellsworth and i weren't sure but we went with it and out came a man named claude who had met "18 sets of missionaries" and set up an appointment to meet with us.

it has been such a blessing to see the tender mercies and miracles that Heavenly Father has blessed us with here in victo. also the branch members are incredible. they have the desire to do the work and help us! we are very blessed.

this week we had a lesson with a lady in our ward who is very sick. she was telling us about her conversion story and described how, "i learned to change." i love that so much! we all need learn to change- and that is through repentance. and we cannot repent without our Savior, Jesus Christ.

i love you all! i hope you have a great week!

love,

soeur paine
