PANTS ON FIRE

dear everyone,

this week has been pretty good! we were really busy this week working with members in our branch which was really great!

we had some pretty funny things happen this week, too. our stake is doing a program called "souviens-toi" which is to help less-active members of the branch/ward remember how they met the church, the way they felt when they were baptized, and their testimony. we have been visiting people in our branch that we don't know with members so that we can do this and hopefully help them remember the way they felt so they will want to feel it again. wednesday we went to visit a man and he didn't know who we were, he said he was 98 years old and didn't remember ever being a part of our church. so we left thinking he might be really confused because the man we were supposed to visit is in his 70's, in a wheelchair and at that address but has had many accidents so we thought that's why he forgot. come to find out, we might have visited the wrong person (even though he did say he was the person we asked for). OOPS!

another really funny experience we had was when our less active told us the story of when her bum caught fire. literally caught fire. it's not funny because it really hurt her. but what was funny was how she told us the whole experience and then showed us her pants and just the bum was burned. completely gone (she was laughing too). it was so ridiculous we couldn't believe it!

this week we also went to go visit a family in our branch that lives out in the country. it was a beautiful drive and they are french so we ate wonderful french food! a three-course meal! and we talked about their favorite french food and they created a menu for the next time we go over to eat at their house. we also ate a raclette with another french family in our ward. a raclette is a meal you eat with potatoes and all different kinds of meat. you can cook them there at the table if you want and then you also are melting cheese the whole time that you pour over your potatoes and meat. needless to say i am now a whale.

this week in my studies i read an article about peace and how often times we may be searching for answers to questions or reasonings behind things and we ask God, "why?" most of the time we don't ever know why but Heavenly Father blesses us with the feeling of peace. i love D&C 6:23, "Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?" Peace is the greatest testimony that we can receive from our Heavenly Father. for me that is so comforting, especially when i'm seaching and wanting to know why and i'm impatient and then i feel the peace of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

sorry my letters are kind of lame i'm just soo tired of writing haha

i hope you all have a great week!

love,

soeur paine
