september sky
yesterday i woke up to a clear, beautiful sky. as i walked home from class in front of our flag at half-mast, i got to watch the changing of the guards. from midnight to midnight, we had someone guarding the flag. it was amazing to me that it had already been twelve years. twelve years. it feels like we just were accepting the devastation and trying to rebuild our city. i listened to some memorials as i got ready, and heard someone say that 9/11 was the loss of innocence of a generation. i was in my religion class at school when we were reminded that everything God allows in our lives will be for our own benefit. faith always points us forward, and some of us flee to avoid tough times, but if we do that we weaken ourselves. if we train ourselves to face hard times the next time we can only be stronger. that is the best legacy we can leave behind
