LUXEMBOURG

saturday my friend lexi and i went on a walk to the luxembourg gardens, and it was the most lovely day. (the perfect day part two dare i say?)

we started our walk by looking at this skyscraper that is kind of ugly because there should not be skyscrapers in paris, in my opinion.

we then walked along montparnasse, which happens to be home to many, many brasseries that some extremely famous writers and artists including hemingway, fitzgerald, picasso, and others. pretty neat-o.

^^^the select is one of these former "hangouts" of those artists and writers^^^

^^^this statue was a little bit sad. if you notice the graffiti on it, it's a statue of a jewish officer in the french army who was wrongly accused of treason. he was stripped of everything, but was later found to be innocent of the charges. they built this statue in honor of him that should be at ecole militaire, but instead it's in this corner of town that is hard to see, and the french people still don't like it. ^^^

after walking through montparnasse, we went into the luxembourg garden. we went at the perfect time. it was fall and beautiful and the best day ever.

lexi and i stopped at a chocolate shop that was suggested that is apparently one of the best chocolate specialists in france, and let me tell you. this was heaven. it was filled with mousse and a whole bunch of other things that i do not know, except i think there may have been wings of angels and tears of unicorns because it was magic.

we then walked around the garden. there were beehives and old people playing bocce ball

here's the statue of liberty. france actually gave america the statue of liberty, so this was used as the model for the one in new york.

and finally, the luxembourg palace and the gardens around it. oh it was heavenly! lexi and i talked about our homes and our families and our friends and it was just so fun to spend the afternoon with her. this was a beautiful day i will never forget!

there are little sailboats you can rent for a half hour, and it was the best euro and a half that i've ever spent because it rocked! we got the yellow one with a starfish on it and named it etoile du mer (star of the sea)

^^^you get this stick and you push your boat out to the middle of the water and watch the wind take her wherever she wants to go, and you run to catch up with it before it hits the side and you can push it out again. ^^^

^^^after we went on our walk, we went to the yarn store, and of course it was awesome because yarn.^^^

we finished off the day with a bunch of our friends at the eiffel tower, eating baguettes and cheese. it was such an amazing day! the perfect day.
