VERSAILLES// PART TWO

aren't you lucky? the second post on versailles. after the chateau, we went to the gardens of versailles. they are huge and incredible, and you can just picture all the royal people walking around there in their beautiful dresses. they also had period music playing around in the garden, and that was just the icing on the cake.

we then went to the grand trianon which was built for the king and his family when they needed a break from their castle (i know). we then headed over to the petit trianon that was built for louis xv's mistress. i didn't get too many pictures of the petit trianon, but it's the same style of the grand trianon. the petit trainon and the grand trianon (along with the hamlet) all became part of marie antoinette's estate when louis xvi started his rule.

^^^the apollo fountain. i've studied this so much so it was amazing to actually see it. when we we done going through the hamlet, we came back around and the fountain was on (pics later on)

the following pictures are of the petit and grand trianon

at the back of the petit trainon's garden, there was the lover's dome, and a little further back was marie antoinette's hamlet! marie antoinette liked the idea of being a peasant, so she had this little village built for her where she and her friends would have sheep and do all sorts of things. i can see how the people of france would be very frustrated with her, but it is magical back there. we were so tired at that point, but the hamlet was one-hundred and ten percent worth walking for six hours to see it. i LOVED the hamlet.

^^^hey there pretty sky (none of the pictures are from the internets! i took them myself! the weather has just been loving me this trip)

also please appreciate that foreign internet is the worst and it took me two days to upload all these pictures.
