I CAN'T EAT ANYMORE FOOD

HELLO EVERYBODY,

this week not much happened, which is hard. it's hard going a million places and driving for an hour (our area is huge) to go and talk to someone only to have them stand you up or not want to talk to you. it seems like everyone in quebec city was sick this week so that was also really hard. our regular appointments didn't happen because everyone was sick. we did lots of service this week.

also we had a dinner appointment every single day this past week! it is very hard for me to eat all of the food, but i stuff it in anyway! haha! i think we ate pate chinois 3 times this week. it's basically shepherd's pie, so it's good, but three times! and then they give you so much food for dinner and you feel like you're going to die with all this food and THEN they give you dessert! haha we are very blessed to have great members in our ward. they are so kind and love us and want to help us so much.

we did have a tender mercy this week around wednesday evening when sister clark and i were discouraged because we couldn't get a hold of anyone and nobody would talk to us. we got a referral!! referrals are hard to come by over here but it was from slc for an english book of mormon! yay for english! i'm really being able to understand the quebecois accent a lot better, but when you've been speaking french all day every day, it's like a nice little gift when we get to speak english. we went and visited the girl and she is very interested. she's maybe 19-20 and really wants to read the book of mormon because she knows it will teach her more about christ. how amazing is that! we are going to teach her later this week.

one of my teachers from the mtc sent me an email this week and reminded me of the talk by Elder Holland, Missionary Work and the Atonement. in the talk, elder holland says that missionaries who are struggling with things like rejection and discouragment are literally rubbing shoulders with the Savior because Christ suffered more than we will ever be able to comprehend. i know that not just on the mission when we are having hard times, but throughout our whole lives when we feel that we are defeated, we are so close to the Savior. He is asking us to use His Atonement every single day of our lives, not just to repent, but to feel His strength and comfort when we are weak. what a wonderful blessing!

sorry i don't have anything more exciting to tell you about, i hope everyone is doing well and you are warmer than i am!

oh wait i did think of something funny. our recent convert jacqueline, who i've told you about before with the really fat cat is crazy. the good kind of crazy, but crazy nonetheless. we visit her at least once a week and she has this list of men in our ward that she is IN LOVE with. she's completely harmless and won't do anything, but she's in love with them. she's maybe late 60's-70 years old. every single lesson she will tell us about the men that she loves ranging from someone bishopric to the stake patriarch to our ward mission leader. she doesn't speak any english except for the words, "i love him," "that's sexy," and "he's NICE!," and only uses these words to describe these men that she loves and her fat cat, canel (her voice also gets really deep when she speaks in english, so it's even more funny).  we went to visit her on saturday night, and she lives in an apartment building, so we always have to call her from the speaker thing to have her buzz us in. saturday night we call and she's says, "I fell!" and then hangs up the phone. we call her again and ask, "are you okay?" and then she asks us, "are you downstairs?" (every time we call her she also has to ask if we are downstairs, yes jacqueline, where else would we be?? hahaha). she lets us in and proceeds to tell us about how she was taking a nap when canel, her extremely fat cat, pushed her out of her bed. we were dying. it's so ridiculous that even jacqueline is laughing. she then made sister clark rub her shoulder as i was crying from laughing so hard.

love,
soeur paine

ps i didn't really have very many pictures, but this past monday we visited the chateau in quebec city and that's where this picture is from.

SORRY THIS IS LATE EVERYBODY
i have priorities -xx rachel
