THERE'S JUST A LITTLE SNOW

dear everyone,

how are you doing? we are doing fine here, the weather is warming up after we had an "INFERNAL TEMPETE". and yes it's as bad as it sounds.

wednesday we had a training meeting in montreal, so we had to take the 3 hour bus ride down pretty early in the morning. all of the members of our ward had been telling us it was going to be really bad weather on wednesday, but we didn't really know what it would be like. we told president the night before about the weather, and he told us when we wake up to decide if we felt like we could drive in it or not (we still had to drive to the bus station).

well, we looked out the window wednesday morning, and saw horizontal winds and lots of snow, but we decided we could do it (STUPID). let's just say, i have no idea how we got out of our parking spot or the apartment parking lot because the snow we had to wade through was up to my waist. but once we were out, there was no way we could get back in, so we just kept going! a 10 minute drive to the bus station took 40 minutes and we could not see 15 feet in front of us the whole time. after we arrived at the bus station, we had to once again trek through waist high snow, but we made it! and buses are huge monster cars that run in any weather and we were asleep the whole ride down, so i don't really know how that went. all i know is we made it out alive! sorry mom!

wednesday was a fun day in montreal, we had a training meeting and then sister dinge (my mtc companion) and our trainers and i went to get poutine from this really famous place in the city and it was delicious and i gained 50 lbs.

other than the infernal tempete, one of our investigators finally started progressing for real. we had been so close to dropping her because she would never read her scriptures or do the things we asked her to do even though we have really spiritual lessons, but this week, she finally started reading the book of mormon on her own!!! go carole! we still have a lot of work ahead of us with her, but she's finally realizing the benefit of doing what we ask and is starting to get a real desire.

we also had a miracle night on thursday. we had been doing our weekly planning and trying to contact some people we had not been able to contact for so long. we called a less active that we visit teach who is in our ward but the elders usually visit her. we call her and ask if we can visit and she's like, "sure, do you want to come tonight?" IN ENGLISH. (i can't stress enough how exciting it is when someone speaks english to us) and we are like, OF COURSE WE CAN COME TONIGHT! come to find out a little later when we called the elders because she moved and we needed her new address, they told us they had been meaning to ask us to stop by and see her anyway because they had been trying for 2 months with no success! then we get a call back from one of our other less actives we had been trying to contact for so long and she asks us if we can come visit her right now, so we are literally running out the door. we call all the members we can think of who speak english, trying to find a member to come with us to these lessons we just got and we can't find anyone because everyone is at a bowling birthday party for a lady in our ward! but wait!

then finally we get a hold of Isabel, who is the girl in our ward who will be serving a mission in saint george in may, and she tells us she can go with us because the thing she originally had that night was cancelled! so we visit Tamar and then go to see Natasha with Isabel. as we are sitting in this lesson with natasha, she says there is a former investigator who wants to meet with us, and we can all go together! she wants the gospel again. holy poop! this never happens!

as we are leaving natasha's house, it's around 8:30 so we were going to go home and call formers and try and find some new investigators that way since we only had a half hour left before we had to be home and we didn't have anyone else to visit. we had just left Isabel when she calls us and says, "oh yeah, are you hungry? my mom made you some food you can come get." WE WERE STARVING. we didn't have any time to grab dinner because of the surprise appointments we got, and sister torres is the best cook. what a tender mercy!

hope everyone has a great week, i love you all.

love,

soeur paine

ps remember our recent convert jacqueline and her super fat cat canel? here is a picture of him. i'm pretty sure if i curled up in a ball and sat next to him we would be the same size. i'll try and get a better picture of him next time.

and the second picture is of sister dinge and i in montreal and then of sister clark and i gaining 50 lbs eating poutine.
