hope you all had a good week mine was good.
the week started out kinda poopy because sister clark was sick, so i had to sit around while she slept a lot. it`s okay i just read my favorite book, the book of mormon. i just started the book of helaman and i`m at the part where nephi and lehi are in the prison and all the wicked people are engulfed in darkness and they hear a voice telling them to repent. it`s amazing! while nephi and lehi are in the prison, they are surrounded by fire, but it did not burn them and they literally conversed with angels. it`s pretty cool stuff.
this week we had some good lessons. we visited jaqueline, my crazy cat lady, and found out that she broke her arm by tripping down some steps, doing a couple flips in the air, and then falling! pour jaqueline. she`s in good spirits though, she has a nice pink cast on her arm, and she`s been allowing us to do more service for her which is great! we do have a problem with jaqueline, though. she never wants us to leave! we keep our lessons with her pretty short, so when it`s time to go she starts pretending to cry and tells us that canel cries when we are gone. she then tells us that sister clark should marry canel. canel is her fat cat.
we had a lesson with our amie lucie who is 87. i think that i told you about her last week, but on sunday she spent a good 45 minutes telling us about how she was sick after she ate some bbq chicken. i'll spare you the gory details, but let's just say i thought lucie was this polite little old lady, but oh boy was i wrong. i don't think i've ever laughed so hard, we were all crying it was so funny.
we also had a split with the stl`s in their area on thursday, and i was with sister ladd. she goes home in 2 weeks and i`m sad she`s leaving! we are really lucky that the stl`s live about 10 minutes from us so we are able to spend p-day with them sometimes. i will miss them! sister ladd is hilarious and we get along really well. we spent most of our day in old quebec, which is the coolest place here in quebec city, and had some creepy old man with his shirt off tell us we were beautiful several times.
besides our split with the stl`s we had lots of meetings this week and a split with some members of our ward. i went with a sister in our ward named sister duchemin. the church is pretty new up here and so almost all of the members are converts, as is the case for sister duchemin. her family did not like the church at all, and her mom even locked her in her bedroom so she couldn`t go to church when she first became a member. but sister duchemin just climbed out the window! she comes to lessons with us fairly often and has a powerful testimony. i`m so grateful for ward members like her who are so willing and excited to share the gospel.
i was thinking a lot this week about conference and re-read some of the talks. i am so grateful for the powerful spirit of conference and how it has helped some of our less actives and amis. we have a less active who has made a goal to go to the temple, and has been attending church activities, going to church, and reading her scriptures so actively for these past 3 weeks, and it all started when she attended the general women`s conference. another one of our amies, i have never seen her so excited as she was after she watched the last session on sunday and paul v johnson's talk, "and there shall be no more death," the first thing she said to us was, "i'm so excited to see my mom and dad again." it makes me think of elder holland's talk about how, "we are going to be blessed for our desire to do good, even as we actually strive to be so." i know that is so true. i see it every day with our amies and our less actives. when they make a conscious effort, everything changes, and so it can be with us. if we sincerely strive to be better, to do the right thing, we will be blessed because we are doing what our Heavenly Father asks us to do.
love you all!
