it's still freezing.
but other than that, what an amazing week!!!!!
our amie carole accepted a baptism date AND attended a session of general conference yesterday! she's been taught since july and has never accepted a baptism date before!!! and we were able to meet with a new investigator that we have named nancy and she basically spilled her guts to us, then called us later that night to let us know she had been successful in resisting drugs, and that she read the little pamphlet we left her to prepare for the next lesson and even underlined the things in it that she liked! wow what an amazing miracle!
another one of our amies is named lucie. she only will speak to us in english and has the craziest stories to tell us. she is 87 and a countess. she really is! she's a countess of angers (france) and her family has a castle there. lucie has been meeting with missionaries for OVER 40 YEARS. obviously on and off, but heavenly father wants her to have the gospel! she needs it! we used to just visit her and do service because she wasn't progressing, but still needed some help. over the past couple of weeks, we felt very strongly we needed to pick her back up as an investigator because she would always ask us these amazing questions. last night lucie told us, "before i die, i'm going to get baptized in the mormon church." she told us she wants good credentials when she gets to heaven and knows if she's a mormon she'll have them, but she wants to be sure it's all true before she gets baptized. we have a lot of work to do! she has osteoporosis, so she has a hard time walking in the winter. she was telling us last night that the government is going take away her driver's license even though, "there's nothing wrong with me!" i wish you could all meet lucie, she's so funny and sometimes she's convinced that we're all aliens.
other than that we had a family home evening lesson with a less active family on captain moroni and sister clark accidentally called the nephites the nefarts. sorry all my emails have had potty jokes in them lately, it just happens.
besides the great week, this weekend was the best weekend ever! it was general conference!!! i loved every moment of it. my favorite talks in particular were mervyn b arnold from saturday and president uchtdorf's from sunday morning, and then of course our dear president monson's powerful testimony. i am so grateful that we have a prophet and apostle today. president thomas s monson is truly the prophet of these latter days called by God to direct us, and all of his apostles are too. we have a prophet! and because we have a living prophet and apostles, we were literally hearing the words of our loving Heavenly Father this weekend!
if you didn't have a chance to watch all of the sessions, they're on lds.org right now, run, go watch them! i hope you all have a wonderful week. thank you so much for your emails and encouragement, i love you all!
