this week was pretty good, everything just seems to blend together because we are so busy! ha! but i definitely wouldn't have it any other way!
we were able to have good lessons and see a lot of people, there's so much to be done here in fallowfield and 75% of the missionaries are new so it seems like we are still trying to get our footing and get to know the ward members, etc., etc. but it really is great.
this week we had an amazing miracle. sister dexter and i were trying to find a member of our ward that no one seems to know. we found her house, but she wasn't home :( however, sister dexter remembered that there was another ward member who lived on the same street, she just wasn't sure which house was hers and we were pretty far from our car and our ward list. we decided just to knock on what we thought was her door anyway. we knocked and a girl answered. she wasn't who we were trying to find, but we told her who we were and she let us share a message with her and invited us to come back! her name is Amel and she is 18. she's very nice and going through transitions in her life. i know heavenly father prepares people for us to meet! it's never a coincidence!
also this week we had a split with our stl's. they serve in an area called gatineau which is actually in quebec not ontario. it's the last french town before you hit ontario. it was so nice to speak french again in lessons! i didn't realize how much i missed it! and gatineau is gorgeous! it was nice to spend a little time there.
sunday night we had a great fireside on the book of mormon by the 1st counselor of our mission. he is in our ward and a great and entertaining speaker. we were sad because none of our investigators came even though we invited them SO MANY TIMES, but we did have an investigator, madison, come to church and one of our less actives who i love so much! after the fireside there was refreshments and we were helping serve them. this little boy walked up to me and asked for a drink. i think he must have been around 4. he said, "hi i'm sam and i'm annoying." i just started laughing and then asked him why he was annoying and then he held out his hands and said, "this many girls think i'm annoying" oh man it was so funny. then his friend came over and asked for a drink too and wasn't sure which one he wanted. he asked me if he could smell them first so he sniffed each one before deciding "that one smells good, i want that one!"
other than that my days have been spent doing lots of service here. we walk lots of dogs and big dogs mean big poop that i have to pick up so i decided i am never having a big dog. gross.
this week i've been thinking a lot about christlike attributes. there is a chapter in preach my gospel that focuses specifically on different attributes of Jesus Christ and how we can develop them. i need to work on every single one, but as i was reading in the book of mormon in 3 nephi 17 where Christ kneels down and prays with the people and then He weeps with them. this chapter is one of my favorite chapters in the whole book of mormon. this chapter for me is the epitome of charity by the best example we have, our Savior Jesus christ. how incredible it must have been to be with Christ as He prayed for His people! but i know that He does that for us now, even if He isn't physically on the earth with us. He is always with us. He always weeps with us when we are weeping and feels our joy when we are happy. i am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and that we have the gospel so that we can grow and improve and repent so that we can be better.
i love you all! have a wonderful week!
love,
sister paine
