POUTINE AND MIRACLES

holla tout le monde,

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MY DAD, THE GREATEST DAD.

HOW ARE YOU DOING I'M DOING GREAT!

this week started off with homemade poutine! the griffin family made sister dexter and i homemade poutine and pudding chomeur on monday night for dinner (not healthy at all, but totally quebecois), including homemade french fries, the best cheese curds, and the best gravy. i then fasted for the rest of the week as to not get fat and ate a huge salad with it. just kidding i didn't really fast for the whole week, but i did eat the salad. oh man i hope i don't get fat.

we then had a split in gatineau with our sister training leaders on tuesday

the rest of the week we were able to see our less actives and recent converts, but we couldn't get any appointments with our investigators, which was frustrating! but then suddenly everyone wanted to see us this weekend which was great!

two HUGE miracles happened this weekend. the first, one of our very less active sisters that we visit came to sacrament meeting on sunday! she has been pretty against coming to church and would love when we visited, but didn't really want to talk about the church and she came! it was so happy to see her there!

the second was that our investigator dianne accepted a baptism date!!! it was only our second lesson with her. she was a media referral and very nice and open, but this past lesson with her was definitely one of the most spiritual lessons i've had on my mission. sister dexter and i went in prepared to teach something, but we sat down and the spirit took over. we started to talk about the restoration, but then we got on the topic of baptism. she told us she wants to follow jesus christ and be cleansed of her sins. we asked her how she thought she could do that and she said, "do i need to go to church and be baptized?" YES YES YES! and so we talked about baptism and she said she didn't know what she was waiting for, she doesn't smoke, she doesn't drink or party! i then felt a date pop into my head. sister dexter and i hadn't chosen a date for her yet, but i knew this was the date we needed to invite her to be baptized on. she left for a second to get her glasses, and i whispered the date to sister dexter and she just looked at me and said yes, i think so too. i am so excited for dianne. she wants to change her life and she knows with Jesus Christ she can do it!

saturday night we had a goodbye devotional for president patrick and his family. i will miss them. it will take some time to get used to a different president, but i know that our new president is called to this mission by Heavenly Father. i was so blessed to have president patrick as my mission president for the first 5 months of my mission. he taught me so much about how to be a missionary and truly love the work.

we have been teaching our less actives a lot about hope lately as an attribute of Jesus Christ. there is a talk by James E Faust called, "Hope, an Anchor of the Soul," that says that "the unfailing source of our hope is that we are sons and daughters of God and that His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ saved us from death." i love that statement SO much because it's 100% true! it's simple, but it's so powerful. it is our "unfailing" source of hope that our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ love us. it is the truth from which everything stems. because They love us, everything will be alright.

i love you all so much!

love,

sister paine
