SUNBURNS AND SUBWAY

hello everyone,

this week was SO HOT WE WERE DYING and i got a narly sunburn on the back of my neck even though my hair was down... but anyway it was a week of miracles!

sister dampt and i have been trying to turn this area around, and to do that we have been doing a ton of contacting, and this week we were able to see the fruits of our labors! we had 3 new investigators! there are weeks that pass by here without even one and it was such a sweet blessing to see people who are willing to learn more and accept the gospel. we have one new investigator in particular, myrium, who is catholic and was taught by elders years ago. we called her up to see if we could come by and meet her, but she was a little hesitant. i've gotten really good at not accepting no for an answer, so when people say they are busy, i'll just say, "well we are free next week, can we come over tuesday at 7?" and they usually say yes! well that was the case for myrium and we went in to talk to her. the spirit was SO STRONG. one of the most spiritual first lessons i have ever taught. i could feel heavenly father testifying to me that this was his precious daughter and i need to work as hard as i can to have the spirit with me when we teach her. she is catholic and from haiti, but she told us she relates a lot to joseph smith in that she is confused as to which religion is truly for her (which is huge because catholic people are usually very strong in their convictions and beliefs!) and she knows God will tell her what to do. which is true!!!

also another miracle was that we were able to get members to come with us to many of our lessons. our ward is incredible and help us all the time, but we had been struggling with getting people available to come to lessons with us. we have been working very hard to involve members in our lessons and it has payed off! and when the members get involved in missionary work, miracles happen!

in other news sister dampt likes to scare me almost every time i come out of the bathroom (you think i would have learned by now), especially when it's late at night and it's dark. our poor neighbors hear screaming all the time because she is always hiding around the corner. it's become really funny though. i love sister dampt! we have so much fun together. other than that we had to get our oil changed and had to drive to timbuktu to do it. we also got a subway giftcard from a member because she had to cancel our dinner appointment and it fed us for 3 meals so that was awesome. the life of a missionary is really thrilling.

oh i almost forgot the best miracle of all! there is a recent convert in our ward who we just LOVE. her family is amazing, but she is the only member in her family, the rest of the members even though they love the missionaries have not ever wanted to know more, but this week her husband said he would read the book of mormon and give it a shot!!!!! wahooooo!!!

oh yeah and on saturday our stake had youth conference and put on a concert for the syrian refugees in canada. we were invited to set up a missionary tent and be there during the concert/talent show so that was pretty cool as well.

anyway that's all. i love you guys!!! i hope you have an amazing week!

love, sister paine
