dear everyone,
wow best week ever!!! our area has been struggling for the whole transfer essentially, but this week we saw so many amazing miracles!! it started with our exchange on tuesday. i went with sister barton who is from oregon and i love her. she is so hilarious! she is always positive, which brightened my day!
we had called an investigator that morning we were supposed to have a lesson with. his name is jean-mil and he kind of flaked out on our lesson, but asked if we could do it later that day, which we couldn`t because we had another appointment. we still went over to his building because we had another investigator and potential that lived there. we got to the door of the building, and jean-mil was there and it was a little awkward because he told us he wasn`t going to be and he didn`t really want to talk to us (he just kind of ran into the building). so we went on and tried to visit our people and as sister barton and i were making our way down the stairs we heard a woman singing a beautiful song and we looked at each other and said we had to knock on this door. so we did and we realized that it was jean-mil`s wife! (i had completely forgotten jean-mils actual apartment number) she was so happy to see us because he had told her about us and we had spoken to her on the phone. we went in and taught her the restoration lesson and the spirit was SO STRONG! as we testified the spirit was just rushing over us. it was so cool and she loved it! she wants to read and come to church. she also wants us to come teach her children (3 boys, ages 9-2) and her and her husband together. at the end of the lesson we extended a baptismal date and she accepted! it was so amazing to see the gospel already touch her life and i was so grateful to be able to be there.
other miracles we saw this week was one of our investigators, Ange, whom we hadn`t seen in 4 weeks texted us and asked us to come over! sister garcia went on an exchange and she accepted a date to be baptized as well. we will see some christmas miracles!
also as a missionary we plan our week once a week and then plan the next day every night. even when we set up appointments the things we plan for don`t all happen. TWO days this week every single thing we planned for worked out! that is a huge deal over here! i was so grateful!
this week we have the opportunity to see Elder Bennett from the seventy. he is going to do a mission tour, so we will have a zone conference and then sister garcia and i and the zone leaders will go to a special mission leadership training council with him in montreal. we are so excited! he is going to give us special and specific direction for our mission and zone and areas!
this week we have been teaching everyone and their mother about prayer. we have been reading the story of enos with many of our people. i love the story of enos. his faith was so strong that he received a remission of his sins and everything that he asks of God. i especially love enos 1:4-8,
4 And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens.
i think my favorite verse is verse 7 when enos asks, "Lord, how is it done?" i think of so many times in my life and on my mission when i`ve seen wonderful blessings, tender mercies, and miracles. and if we ask, "Lord, how is it done?" we see that everything we have, the good and the bad, comes because of our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. He blesses our faith. He blesses us in our trials. He blesses us when we try. God cannot and will not lie to us. He will guide us in all things because He loves us infinitely. and it is done because of our Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement. "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith". we have the Atonement to cover everything. and our Savior will help us through it all.
i love you all! i hope you have a great week!
love,
soeur paine
