this week was an interesting week... but super good too! we started out monday with a district "hike" (it was the most pathetic excuse of a hike more like a promenade through some trees.) but there was a man feeding some chickadees seeds out of his hand and he gave some to us, so we got to feed the real live wild birds out of our hands!
tuesday it was pouring rain and a lady in our ward decided to move all of a sudden, so she asked us to come over and help her downsize... she gave us so. many. clothes. she told us to look through them for what we wanted first and then give the rest to people the rs president thinks need things and then the rest can be donated. it was pouring rain and we needed to move all of the clothes to our car and she didn't have any boxes. i decided to sacrifice myself, so sister dampt stayed inside and handed me armfuls of clothes while i stayed in the rain and took them to the car. it was hilarious. i and the clothes were soaking wet. but it was so nice for the weather to cool down! wednesday we went to finish helping her and to thank us she wanted to take us out for dinner to a "very nice and fancy restaurant" it was a weird vegetarian place and it was actually pretty good except for poor sister dampt puked in the middle of the lesson we had that evening because of some weird veggie thing she ate... she handled it very well and the family had no idea what happened, so we considered it pretty successful.
this week we had some great miracles. we contacted a former investigator for a couple of years ago and she is incredible! she is from haiti and we speak french with her. it's so nice to practice my french again! she has 2 adorable daughters and is very nice and open. we also picked up 3 daughters as investigators of one of our current investigators!!! the work is progressing here in fallowfield and it makes me so happy!
we had another miracle lesson with our investigator myrium. she had to cancel last week's lesson, so this week when it was rescheduled we texted her to confirm. she never answered our text to confirm, but we already had a member coming with us to the lesson so we decided to go anyway. when we rang the doorbell she let us in and we sat down to teach her about the plan of salvation. we asked her how her week was and she started to cry. she told us that she had a really hard day the day before and when she saw our text to confirm our appointment she didn't know what to do. she said she decided to not respond and if we came we came, but if not that was okay for her too. she said she is so confused and lost and feels like she's not doing the things she is supposed to do. she grew up catholic and her whole family is catholic, but she feels lost with it and had forgotten how much Heavenly Father loves her. holy cow is the spirit ever strong when we teach her!! we were able to share the plan of salvation and how much God is truly our loving Heavenly Father. we needed to be there for her that night, and she is so prepared. i pray that she will continue to read and pray and see that this truly is God's way and gospel.
oh i almost forgot, on sunday we were blessed to have a special conference for only the church members in ontario province with an apostle, Elder Ballard! we were blessed to get special guidance and direction from him, and since ottawa is the only part of our mission in ontario we got to watch it specially! he reminded us of the troubling times that we are in and of how vitally important personal, daily scripture study and prayer are. they are our lifelines here on earth! i am so grateful for the chance to see an apostle of the Lord. I know he is called of God, as is all our prophets and apostles.
i love you all!!!
